(These events occur between "The Other White Meat" and "Shopping Trip",
while Marleigh was in Israel.)

Marleigh: What I think happend:

       Thielo gets his head stuck in the McFlurry and flees, crushing
       his cell phone in the process.  He starts driving.  He decides to
       drive to Chicago, to the Strauss's house there to repair himself.
       It takes a while (you'll have to say how long).  Once he's fixed,
       it's time to call Lexa.  I'm assuming this is about where the run
       starts.  His plan is to say that he doesn't remember much after
       going through the windshield, bits and pieces of a trip in the
       car and a driving need to go home.  He woke up in the hospital in
       Chicago and was just released.

Andy: Okay.  After you've gotten mostly repaired (perhaps two days or so
      before you were going to call Lexa) you get a message on the
      answering machine.  (I'm assuming you don't pick up the phone
      given your state.)

      "Thielo, this is Thielo.  I've been covering for you so that Lexa
      won't know.  Page me at (number) when you're ready to come back
      and I will call you at this number so we can arrange the swap."

Marleigh: It's the Doppelganger?  What?  What the hell's going on?

	  I page the number immediately.

Andy: after a couple of hours you get a phone call.
      "Thielo?  This is Thielo."

Marleigh: *a long pause*
	  "This requires an explaination."

Andy: "The explanation is pretty complicated.  What you need to know is
      that I'm you and I've been covering for you so that Alexandra
      won't find out."

Marleigh: "You've been impersonating me to my wife?"

Andy: "I _am_ you.  Or at least, the previous version.  Alexandra had a
      false start before building a good replacement. Don't worry, I've
      been being very quiet and haven't been doing anything you wouldn't
      approve of."

Marleigh: "How can that be?  How did you know where I was, or that I
	  would need covering for?"

Andy: "I know where you are because that's where I would go if I were
      you which I am functionally."

Marleigh: "That assumes that you knew I was injured, which you would not
	  unless you were monitoring me."  

	  (GM: When the other Thielo was sighted in Boston, what sort of
	  place was he going into?)

Andy: "I have a resonant DeHumphries coil - I can tell if you are
      injured.  I think it was an attempt to provide me with empathy
      towards people and it failed, but provided me with a certain
      empathy towards you."  

      (GM sez: a used bookshop, know to provide the occaisional occult
      text)

Marleigh: "Why would you want to help me?"  

	  (GM: I assume DeHumphries coils can be used in the way that
	  he's refering to?)

Andy: (GM: You're not entirely sure about the coils, not being a
      mechanomancer yourself, but they do provide resonant activity to
      semi-attuned bodies at thousand mile ranges.)  

      "We are brothers.  And although I do not actually love Alexandra,
      I would not see her damaged."

Marleigh: "Why were you a 'false start'?  You sound like a viable and
	  effective automoton."

Andy: "I am an effective automatic humanoid, but I am not calibrated to
      be an effective husband in the same way that you are."

Marleigh: "I understand.  I would like to speak with you further.  This
	  is not a secure line.  I can be finished with the last of my
	  cosmetic repairs today, and fly back to Seattle tonight.  I
	  would like us to meet to make the swap late tonight, and to
	  learn more about you."

Andy: "Late tonight?  I will be at the Painted Pig in Portland <address>
      from 1AM to 2AM.  We can meet there."

Marleigh: (Right, Portland, not Seattle.  Mike's been messing me up.)
	  "All right.  I will see you then."

Andy: the GM is assuming you turn up?

Marleigh: Taking precautions, casing the place a bit first, but yes.

Andy: It's somewhat of a dive, frequented by students mostly.  You see a
      car from the Hospice parked a block away.  When you get inside you
      don't see anyone who looks like you, but the bartender waves you
      over to the bar.

Marleigh: I go up to the bartender.

Andy: He says "you really do look just like your brother!  He left this
      for you."  and he slides a manila envelope across the bar.  Inside
      is a letter which says: 

      Thielo.  As you get closer my coil resonates more strongly and I
      realize that I am not ready to see my replacement yet.  I find
      this weakness strange, but it seems to be a defect in my
      manufacture.  I enclose a summary of the doings of the past days
      so that you may better fit in with the others.  I do not think I
      was discovered.  I will go consider my mechanics to see if I may
      overcome this sensation.  -Thielo.

      (So the notes basically summarize things to the level of the logs,
      just for convenience)

Marleigh: Ok.
	  I will wait until 2.  If he's still not there, I'll go drive
	  the Hospice car back to the Hospice.

Andy: He does not return in that time.  I think this takes place a
      couple of days after the end of the last adventure...  basciallly
      you can start in when we start game.

      oh, the keys to the car are also in the envelope. ;)
