GLOBAL AEC INDUSTRY B2B EXCHANGE ANNOUNCES UK REGIONAL ALLIANCE PARTNER

July 25, 2000 - AECventure, the first global business-to-business enterprise created to serve the entire Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, today announced that its first regional business-to-business exchange will serve the AEC industry in the UK. The strategy of creating a series of open, neutral, regional exchanges serving the global AEC industry was announced in June. AECventure is the global platform that will support these regional exchanges.

The interim name of the UK venture is Arrideo. Its founders are AMEC, Balfour Beatty, Bovis Lend Lease, Kvaerner, John Laing, and AECventure. The global and regional goal is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the AEC industry by providing an integrated range of marketplace, collaboration, project management and other specialized tools in an Application Service Provider (ASP) model.

In a joint statement, the senior executives of the AECventure's founding partners, Messrs. Peter Mason, CEO of AMEC, Ross Taylor, CEO of Bovis Lend Lease, Claes Björk, CEO of Skanska and Thomas C. Leppert, Chairman and CEO of The Turner Corporation, said, "We are pleased to welcome the UK group as our first regional alliance in the world. Our partnership with Arrideo is an important step in achieving our goal to create an open, independent industry-wide exchange, which will offer best-of-class services and applications from around the world and make them available to all industry users. This partnership also represents a compelling value proposition for the UK construction and engineering chain as all members will be able to leverage the strengths of the AECventure business strategy - one that links global and regional portals, electronic tools and value added services in an innovative business model. Our ventures share the same vision and long-term business approach and as we progress, we look forward to building on our relationship with Arrideo and also developing new regional partnerships in countries across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific."

The initial partners of AECventure are AMEC, Bovis Lend Lease, Hochtief and Turner, and Skanska. Combined these partners have operations in more than 60 countries and manage billions of dollars of construction projects each year. AECventure is actively seeking new global and regional alliances around the world.
