A course manual will be given to you at the beginning of the term. You are responsible for the following:

    You'll do some Written Reports
Several reports are required during the term. Youšll write several reports, one for each of the unit operations that you will study. All of these reports are read by the teaching staff and by a writing instructor. A writing instructor is assigned to this course to help the students meet the MIT Writing Requirement (Phase 2). The writing instructor reads, but does not grade the reports. Your final grades are heavily dependent on the ability to write and the grade reflects the level reached at the end of the term. We do not average.

    Youšll Give an Oral Report

Youšll attend talks by other students and so you can learn about the various unit operations we have in the laboratory. The atmosphere during the talks is kept similar to a professional meeting. Refreshments are served during a break, formal dress is suggested. Youšll attend the talks for about three or four afternoons during the term.
