SPSS > Import Data

1. Go to Start->Programs->SPSS. If you see a window that says, "What would you like to do?" press cancel. You should then see a window like the one below.

2. First, we must open one of the queries in the Access database we created earlier and save it as an SPSS file. Go to File->Open Database->New Query.

3. Select "MS Access Database."

4. Locate the file "11220db.mdb" in your home directory which you created in the previous MS-Access session.

5. Double-click "qr_sample_p_and_h" which is the joined query of person and housing unit. You will see the list of fields on the right pane shown below. Click "Finish" at the bottom of the window.

6. Finally, you will see the following table in SPSS.

7. Go to File->Save to save this table as an SPSS file and put it into the same directory where the 11220db.mdb is located.

8. Name it "11220db.sav."
