During Construction

Today members of the Atlantis I project released a statement that the construction of their underwater research facility was progressing very close to on schedule. They stated they were "very pleased" with the project so far. They issued that statement to both "comfort our investors and increase general awareness of the project." The facility is going to be used primarily for research into the sedimentation of the Great Blue Hole that exists in the Belize Barrier Reef.

2 Weeks Prior To Opening

Today members of the Atlantis 1 project told a small group of representatives from the media and their major contributors that the long anticipated undersea research facility would be completed in two weeks and they anticipate the opening ceremonies to be within the next month. The designers have been very tight lipped about the planned events and usage of the facility. They have stated that access will be very limited to the scientists who will be working in the facility and a very few representatives from their major contributors. They also announced that within the first six months of the project they will be launching a correspondence program directed at middle school students that would allow them to write to scientists on board the facility. The goal of this program is to increase awareness of the facility.

Opening

Today the Atlantis 1 underwater research facility opened. The scientists began their research after a brief ceremony and dedication that was broadcast over the internet. The designers were "ecstatic" to see their dream a working reality. Everything seems to be fully functional and operational and within the next couple of days the scientists will be able to go ahead with full scale research operations.

2 Weeks Into Operations

Atlantis 1 scientists have now been at work in the murky depths of the Great Blue Hole for approximately two weeks. Their research is progressing at a "surprisingly rapid pace." The scientists feel the speed of the research is due to the state of the art computer systems on board Atlantis 1 and the fact that the station is able to operate twenty four hours every day. Everyone is "thrilled' with Atlantis 1 so far.
