Prior to Deployment of Habitat
The Effects of Visible Light, Infrared, and Sound Waves on the Vent Environment Determination of the effects of the three most likely means of direct observation of the vent site on the vent ecosystem. These tests will be performed in conjuction with the Manned Robotics Team.
Development of Lab Procedure for Simulating Vent EnvironmentDevelopment of procedure to allow for in-lab handling of live organisms collected from the vent enviornment. These organisms are highly sensitive to pressure, temperature, and light intensity, and these factors must therefore be controlled in the lab.
Construction of Sensor ArrayThe construction of an array of real time sensors sensitive to pH, salinity, temperature, pressure, chemical composition, sound intensity, and light intensity. This will be constructed with the help of the Manned Robotics Team and in conjunction with the Earth Science Team.
