Baseline of The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge:  Hydrology and Water Systems

The first few weeks of Mission 2007 have been dedicated to organizing and planning what our team's goals are and what we need to accomplish.   The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) contains a highly diverse ecosystem.  In order to characterize the ecosystem, we will need to develop a quantitative model.  Through the development of a flexible model of ANWR's ecosystem, we hope to find the optimal parameters in which the populations of organisms can continue to thrive.  The geography and climate of the area also pertain heavily to the dynamic wildlife factors.  We began reading about the general layout of ANWR and investigating maps of the 1002 area.

In order to achieve an overall breakdown of 1002, we will each investigate specific determining factors that play major roles in creating the ANWR ecosystem.  For this portion, I will be examining the hydrology and water systems of the coastal plain.
