Important Information:
-Possible Threats: Invasive species, human affects on environment
-the species is endemic; subspecies of particular concern located on Espanola: hoodensis
-total population in 2000 was about 15,000 individuals (Swash  pg. 114)
-two kinds of tortoises within species -- dome-shelled and saddled-backed, corresponding to the shells of the tortoises (Espanola has saddle-backed tortoises)
