10.16.04

Today I worked on the final format of the team website, adding different sections to help divide and organize the information as people send it.

9.22.04

During coordination meeting, everyone in the group was assigned two topics each on which to focus their research (One topic for part 1, and one for part 2).   We felt that these divisions would help us cover all aspects of the islands.

Part I

1. Ecosystem (Alicia, Marco, Anna)

2. Threat to the ecosystem (Jackie, Fawah, Jessica)

3. What has been done about the threats to the ecosystem (Brittany, Ouqi)

Part II

1. Village design (Anna, Jessica, Ouqi)

2. Network of sensors monitoring ecosystem (Jackie, Alicia)

3. Biopreserve (Fawah, Brittany, Marco)

We also heard today that two members of our team will no longer be be participating in Mission 2008, so our research groups have to be smaller than expected.

9.20.02

The final draft of our team's definition of an A was sent to Kip today, thus establishing our guidelines for work during the semester ahead.

9.17.04

We had our first official team meeting today, in our own private room.

As a member of Las Tortugas team 2, I have been doing research for Mission 2008 since mid-September. My research has primarily focused on the marine aspects of the Galapagos ecosystem, concentrating on the areas surrounding the Islands of Fernandina and Isabela. The information I found is posted on the team website for Tor2, for which I am the "webmistress" in charge of creating, altering and updating the website with research from the entire team.

During the second portion of the semester, my research will be focusing on the monitoring systems of the Galapagos - what is being monitored currently, and what monitoring systems we feel should be implimented or changed to monitor different things or processes.
