- ideal village- just fix up current one; fishermen get indiv quotas

- ideal village- also just change town; want economic growth (more restaraunts),
lure tourists to san cristobal; more education

- environmental sensors- start off with simple sensors (geographic, metal,
pollutions); then expand, using new wireless connections
- political- 1) cooperation of ecuadorian govt; 2) internal problems; 3) rival
NGOs; 4) funding
- create a UN-like group to watch over islands; Ecuador get weighted opinion
Ig5- Floriana and Espinola
- not heavily inhabited; one practically not have any residents
- ideal village- just educate people and fix lifestyle, no more
- limit expansion, but leave them there
- environmental sensonrs- remote sensors, reporting to a central station;
educate tourists with research
- geoindicators- design what sensors need to check what
- planes fly over to watch fishermen; monitor water purity to determine
biological processes
- also have non-moving sensors
- biological preservation- only need to worry about invasive species on floridana
(more invasive plants than endemic plants)
- public policy- lax enforcement of laws on illegal fishermen -> ecuadorian
govt can't handle the situation -> UN coucil would be better bcs they know
what to do
Ig1-
- mostly uninhabitated; have great natural rock formations -> good for
diving and snorkeling
- ideal village- continue no residents; mostly not liveable anyhow bcs of
active or dormant volcanoes
- maybe idealized tourists site
- illegal fishing- a lot for sea cucumbers and shark fins
- 1) internat'l vessels from asia; 2) legal fishers: who often exceed
allowance; 3) illegal fishers funded by asia
- political policy- best way is through money; 1st and 2nd generation galapagoans
are more environmentally friendly -> keep educating environmentally
