September 20th, 2004

Well, this is my first posting, and unfortunately I do not have much to say.  I just wanted to start by saying up what work I have done today, and also what I expect out of this course.

Today I went to class and realized that several of my other team members had already posted their personal webpages.  Me, being the diligent student that I am, had not.  So I rectified that this afternoon, and hopefully I can pretty regularly update the website as the course progresses.  My favorite part of making the webpage was making the banner- I scoured through my image folder and found a picture of the coast line that I took which I thought vaguely resembles somthing one might see in the Galapagos.  Sorry to everyone for faking it though, I do not have any pictures on my computer of the Galapagos Islands.

In terms of what I hope to get out of this course, I just geniunely hope that it will be a good experience.  I am looking forward to learning a lot about the Galapagos Islands and the environmental pressures associated with it, but I am also looking forward to getting to know my teammates and working with them to solve our very complex problem.

Thats all for now, hopefully more to come in the future.

It is early in the morning, and I am tired, so this will be a very short posting.

After finishing up my physics problem set, I decided to sit down and hammer out the team webpage like I promised I would.  I put up a rough index page, with a description of the course and our objectives.  Hopefully, when we decide what we want on the page, there will be more content and the page will appear fuller.  But alas, we may have to wait for that.

The banner for the team page was made using photoshop, and because I did not want to deal with copyright laws and all that jazz I just used pictures from my computer to make it (sorry).  They are from the coast of Mexico, in Cozumel, at the ancient Mayan ritual grounds.  Not the Galapagos, but again I imagine that it is what the Galapagos Islands would look like.

So far research is progressing fairly well.
I have looked into how the islands are powered, and come across some interesting information about alternative power sources on the islands.  I have also looked into the issues talked about in the Charles Darwin report, pertaining to invasive species and climate change.

Our team as a whole is working pretty well now, we have agreed to come up with some proposals for next team meeting (tomorrow).  I think that my proposals might be a bit dry, but I have been spending a lot of time working on the team website and adding content to it.  I think that the more we write and post on it the better we will be when it comes time to give our presentation.  Thus far, I have received a little support with this idea, but I am hoping that after next team meeting this will pick up.

Well, hopefully my updates to this site will become more regular once I finish working on the other site.
