  very good introduction to modern seismology, many examples from recent research; theory not as rigorous as Aki & Richards




• Exploration Seismology by R. E. Sheriff and L. P. Geldart (1999)
  corrected second edition




• The Seismic Wavefield I & II by Kennett, B.L.N. (2001)
  advanced; excellent for stratified media




• Introduction to Seismology by Shearer, P. (2001)
  good intro level book; subject choice a bit 'patchy'
