Consider a square plate made up of a single ply of AS4/3501-6 Graphite Epoxy, 0.08" thick. The plate is 5" x 5", simply supported, and is subjected to a side loading of 5 psi. Use the energy method, or any other convenient method, to analyze the following problems. Find the deflection w as a function of x and y to reasonable accuracy. Sketch or plot.
1. The material is aligned with the plate geometry, as shown below. Hint: use the 1,1 and 1,3 modes.
2. The material is rotated 45° w.r.t. the plate geometry as shown: Hint: use the 1,1 and 2,2 modes.
The properties you need are attached; I also saved you some work and did the rotation of the Q matrix for you.
