Mockup Review Logistics

The mockup review will start at 7:15 PM sharp and finish by 9:30 PM on the date indicated in the course schedule. Grading will be based upon the three criteria listed in the mockup review description. Your section instructor determines the grade for the review.

All instructors will attend the review and will meet immediately following the presentations to discuss each section's work. Preliminary feedback will be provided in class on Friday. The presentations will also be video taped and put on the results page.

The presentations will begin in 3-270 at 7:15 PM.

During the first hour, each section will have 3 minutes to present their idea, critical questions, and key findings. Be sure to include a preliminary product contract with key needs, product attributes, and specifications.

Please have your presentations ready on your team laptop. A computer projector will be available.

Physical models will not be part of this structured presentation, and there will be no questions after each presentation. Use the time to present an overview of your concept, a preliminary product contract as discussed in class, and frame the key risks that you have addressed. The presentation pointers may be helpful when you are planning your materials. One minute will be allowed between presentations for microphone setup and changing computers. The room will be available from 6:15 PM for AV testing.

All students should plan on attending the first portion of the presentations since seeing what the other sections are working on is an important part of the learning experience. The order of the presentations is on the right.

Please email 2009ta a link to where your presentation slides can be downloaded no later than midnight on the day of the presentation. You may use your personal Athena Public or team Athena Public directory for this purpose.

After the formal presentations in 3-270 are complete, we will promptly move to the Pappalardo lab so that staff may explore your physical mockups and ask questions. Ten minutes will be allowed for the transition to the Pappalardo lab, so the reviews in the lab should start at 8:20.

All members of your section do not need to participate in the Pappalardo lab portion of the review. However, there needs to be people available to demonstrate and discuss the mockups, and at least one person to record notes during the feedback session. The notes should be distributed to your team and documented in your team wiki. Also, please make sure that your team area is cleaned up for the review, and that there is room to try things out.

Instructors are divided into 8 groups and assigned to different sections. Every 7 minutes the instructors will switch to a different section according to the schedule below. The rotation will be structured to that you will have 7 minutes on, then 7 minutes off. In total, you will have four 7 minute question and answer sessions.

Photographs and video of your mockups will be taken during one of your breaks. Plan to do a 2 minute video demonstration with your mockup.

Work in the shop will cease at the usual 4:45 PM, but you will have shop access to setup your mockups until 6:45 PM. The shop will be locked at 6:45 PM. It is important that you have your mockups setup in your team area prior to the start of the presentations at 7:15 PM.
