 Problem 5.02: Force on a fireman's hose

Back to Problem 5.02

Hint 1:

Use a control volume that "cuts" the system through the bellows, where no x-component of force can be transmitted, according to our assumption. (There is a pressure force on the fluid, though!). The other side of the CV can pass through the jet just outside the nozzle exit, where the pressure is known and the velocity can be computed. Apply mass conservation.
