2.74 Optimal Product Redesign Fall 1995
Electronic Toaster Redesign
Available electric toasters suffer from many deficiencies, including
difficulty in cleaning, poor interface, poor robustness to different
breads, and large footprint. We redesigned an electic toaster, and
increased the robustness to bread shape, made visible and
understandable the controls, and made the toaster easily cleanable. No
toaster on the market today shares these features, attained through
systematic design, analysis and optimization.
