Concept Sketches

For my concept sketches I explored different variations of the track system the guests must solve in order to guide the gumball from beginning to end. Below I sketched three possible ways this can be done.

Completing the Track Circle Track Tilting Maze

Completing the Track

For this concept the gumball track is incomplete. When guests walk into the room there are loose track pieces on the floor, and they use those pieces to complete the track in a way that the gumball falls into the appropriate color hole that matches the color of the gumball.

Each loose track piece has pegs sticking out from one of the sides, which are inserted into corresponding holes in the wall. Once the guests leave the room a rod hidden inside each hole pushes each track piece out, resetting the room for the next group.

Circle Track

In this iteration, the pieces of the gumball track are connected by rotating circles. Guests adjust the circles to complete the track in order to guide the gumball into the hole with the same color.

Tilting Maze

This idea is slightly different than the previous two - instead of having the track on the wall, the gumball is lead to a maze in the middle of the room.

The maze is large enough that it cannot be easily moved by a single person. Guests position themselves around the maze and work together to get the gumball into the matching color hole.

Alternatively, the tilting maze can be built into the floor and rather than using their hands, guests use their feet in order to move the gumball around
