A coffee maker is the one of the most convenient kitchen appliances for many people. A recent survey from USA Today indicates that about 83% of adults in America consume coffee. Why is coffee consumed by so many people? Reports show that some of the more common reasons include to be woken up, to get a burst of energy, and to get energy that will last them for a while. These “benefits” coupled with the addictive properties of caffeine creates a behavioral routine.
Using the coffer maker is relatively simple. The consumer must place grains of coffee within the coffee filter along with a appropriate amount of water. From there, plug in the brewer and turn it on. After the coffee has completely brewed, the consumer can pour themselves a cup. Before further use, however, the filter should be cleaned. The daily consumption of coffee does contribute to user’s monthly budget. Personal sources claim to spend more than $50 a month on the drink, while those who use coffee makers spend around $20. Not only do consumers save a buck, but they now have the convenience of have fresh coffee at home whenever they please rather than having to go out to a coffeeshop. Having this liberty at home allows them to be a bit more experimental with their test pallets by creating special concoctions. Along those lines, the users now have far more control over their calorie intake rather than having to rely on the store’s predetermined proportions.
When taking a close look at several models, there were some common concerns that consumers had. With respect to the Bonavita BV1900TS 8-Cup Carafe Coffee Brewer, the machine fails to indicate when the coffee has been brewed causing the drink to sit and cool until someone notices. Another grievance is that the when the carafe with the cover on will not fit under the hood, meaning storage space is required for both the machine and the cover. Perhaps the biggest gripe, however, is that the last bit of coffee is always hard to reach. Upon further analysis, users will sometimes get too lazy to clean out the coffee maker, limiting how often they will use it.
One way to address these concerns, is by incorporating a water filter attachment. By using the two in conjuction with one another, the water filter will supply the water necesary to brew coffee as well as rinse out the filter and carafe. Further adjustments would be to inlcude a light that will go as soon as the coffee finishes brewing and will continue to stay lit as long as the contents remain hot.
In conjunction with the light, there will be lid release function which will drop the when the brew is done. This addresses the need to keep coffee warm and not having to worry the consumer about securing the lid themselves.
