LOOKS LIKE

Players enter a dilapidated factory, and notice a sealed door across the narrow room.

On the floor of the first half of the room is a deep pit with ominous blinking red lights. On the other side of the room is a toxic looking sludge. Walking across is not an option, and then there’s that locked door…

Looking up inside the smoky room, there is lots of piping overhead, including wheel like structures with multiple rungs that don't appear to be attached to anything any longer. Grabbing a rung of piping causes the wheel to rotate down, making you further away from the rungs on the next wheel you must grab to make progress across the room.

This sketch model demonstrates a monkey bar challenge with a post-apocalyptic theme. The bars are designed to rotate on a shaft and have a varying number of links, making this a physically challenging room for players of many skill levels. The rotation of the individual bars could also be linked to an encoder and used to rack up points for the players and enable them to unlock the door at the other side of the room.

This model is a 1/12 scale model, showing what a 5’6” person would look like using the bars. This shows that the bars are oversized at full scale, which adds to the challenge. We are also exploring the possibility of a grid network of bars that would allow for more variety in difficulty.
