Picture Scroll Works-like Model

Introduction
This sketch model of the scroll is a works-like version for the Tea-tails storyboard. The works-like sketch model has one main purpose of demonstrating how the scroll would work. The scroll will consists of two different pictures (won’t be blank as shown below) which would provide important clues to the players to solve the puzzle. The scroll is fully automatic and designed considering the A-B toggle requirement (self-resetting) for the game to eliminate the need of human intervention.

Details of the scroll assembly
The scroll assembly consists of two pulleys, a timing belt integrated with scroll picture, four ball-bearings, a door activated switch and a stepper motor with belt transmission. A door activated switch on the exit door will feed the input signal to the stepper motor. The scroll mechanism will be driven with help of a small 12 V stepper motor and triggered by an input signal from a switch. Stepper motor will drive one of the pulleys which will further drive the entire scroll. Appropriate amount of tension on the scroll picture is achieved by maintaining the correct amount of center-to-center distance between the two 11/2 inches pulleys. Scroll picture is designed as an integral part of the timing belt.

How does it work?
When team A enters the room by opening the entrance door they will solve the puzzle using picture 1 on the scroll. When team A exits the room via the exit door, the door activate switch will send an input signal to the stepper motor to change the scroll to picture 2. Hence, when the stepper motor will receive an input signal from the switch it will start rotating as per the program. When the stepper motor rotates, it will drive the belt-pulley mechanism which will eventually change the picture being displayed by the scroll. Now, team B will solve the puzzle using picture 2. As team B exits the room, the door activated switch will trigger the stepper motor to change the scroll picture for the next team.
