AMBIENCE AND LAYOUT
Image below depicts the dark ambience of the nuclear core and crane operating room, basing on the storyboard of "Meltdown Mayhem". (Please click here for the original storyboard). Here, we will illustrate the mechanism of the sphere and hook circled in red.
LOOKS
The ball serves as a medium to connect to a device that can pick up the rods on the floor. It glows in the dark and allows the player to see which direction the ball is heading to.
MECHANISMS
We explored 3 mechanisms in picking up the rods:
Hooks
Claw
Suction
Although a claw would make it easier to pick up the rod comparing to a static hook, it will require us to devise an actuator to facilitate the process. On the other hand, suction would also make the process easier as it takes less precision, it may require a sound isolation system.
