Head Games

You enter a long, narrow room. On the opposite wall is a large Olmec head staring blankly at your group. Mesoamerican hieroglyphics adorn large tiles in bas-relief on the remaining three walls.

You examine the hieroglyphs. They seem to depict different animals, such as fish, iguanas, sloths, snapping turtles, and monkeys. Each animal is on several tiles around the room.

Suddenly, the head’s eyes start glowing green.

Note: the object of this game is to decipher the code between the color of the statue’s eyes and the animal hieroglyphs. Each color corresponds to one animal. All tiles depicting that animal must be pressed by the team to count as a “correct” answer. Any incorrect tile pressed will count as a “wrong” answer. After three wrong answers, the team will fail the puzzle and must try again. Once an animal tile is correctly pressed, it will light up with the eye color and remain lit for the rest of the puzzle. The puzzle is complete when all colors are cycled through. At the end of the puzzle, not all tiles will be illuminated (some are decoys).

You guess that green = monkey and so you and your teammates press all monkey hieroglyphics. The tiles glow green and remain glowing.

The eyes flash purple and you push the fish hieroglyphs. Next, the eyes flash blue.

A team member presses the sloth tile. The tile starts glowing red. The head rumbles, “Foolish mortals, you will die.” The glow fades from the tile.

After guessing all associations correctly and finding all of the hieroglyphs, the head says, “You are worthy.” His headdress lights up, revealing an enormous jewel.

Jungle Escape

You scan your bracelet and the door opens. The sounds of the jungle drift out. You hear monkeys, tropical birds, and insects. You see a glimpse of a lush jungle.

There are large trees built out from the walls with thick vines hanging down. There is a small platform next to the door. If you stand on the platform, you can just barely reach the closest vine.

Note: This room should not be rectangular and have some sort of corner so that the exit is not visible from the entrance door. The walls have 2.5D trees, vines, flowers, etc., so the room looks like a rainforest canopy.

Reach out and grab the vine. Jump off the platform. Swing for the next vine. Grab it. Keep swinging.

Oh no! Your hands slip and your foot touches the ground. The monkeys, insects, and birds all fall silent. You hear a jaguar coming closer and her low growl turns into a roar. You are eaten and your group must try again.

Note: This is accomplished by motion sensors set up ~4 inches above the floor.

After re-entering the room and successfully swinging from vine to vine, you round the corner and see another platform next to a door. You swing to the platform.

Watch the rest of your friends complete the course. When all of them successfully reach the platform, open the door and collect your prize.

Sun Worship

You enter a long, narrow room. At the back of the room, an Aztec stepped pyramid topped by a huge sun dominates the rear wall. A steep and narrow set of stairs wind their way up the pyramid. Lining both walls are long alters with what look like targets against the wall.

Note: The alters are the size and shape of skee-ball games. This game is skee-ball, but the aggregate score is what will win the day.

You and your friends each stand in front of an alter and press the big red button. Small, spherical balls roll down the track. On the wall behind the alter is an Aztec calendar motif centered on the target.

Note: the number of points required to win this game depends on the number of players. Therefore, each alter can only be activated within 30-45 seconds of the first alter being activated in order to select the scoring system. No numbers are marked on the target rings.

After pushing the button, a number of idols roll to you (10). You pick up an idol. It looks frightened.

You roll the idol down the alter. It rolls up the ramp, across the gap, and into the target. Score! After the idol falls into the scoring hole, you hear an ascending, sparkling tone.

As you and your friends score points, the tone is heard and the stairs on the pyramid start to light up.

Note: the number of points required per step depends on the number of players.

If all idols are rolled without fully illuminating the pyramid steps and lighting the sun on the top of the pyramid, the lighted steps will extinguish in a descending fashion. A descending tone is played and the room goes dark.

You and your friends finally score enough points to illuminate fully the pyramid. You hear an uprising trilling tone as the giant sun slowly lights up, brightening all lights in the room.

Congratulations! Collect your reward.
