hidden door concept sketch comments

Reviewer 1:

It was easy to imagine what the process would have been from the human door from your description. A couple smaller sketches to show the process would have helped make it much easier though.

Reviewer 2:

Door concept looks great! I wish there was a scale figure and some "action" lines that described the motion better. Perhaps a multi frame drawing that shows multiple states of the door?

Client 3:

This is a very clever door.

My biggest concern is wheelchairs and people of various sizes.

Maybe there is a better shape than the human body?

Reviewer 4:

I think this is definitely a good idea.

I reminds me of something from Indiana Jones, which are some of my favorite movies.

I think the mechanism to open the door could get complicated with each layer having its own mechanism, but it is probably doable without too much difficulty.

Cool idea.

Client 5:

This is very cool.

Just having an opening vaguely human shaped would be very neat.

Matching the opening dynamically to people walking through would be even cooler, though challenging perhaps to do completely safely?

I like this idea a lot.

Reviewer 1:

Good sketch, I would use the same advice as for the first concept. You can easily trace over you last drawing and add smaller sketches around this one to show the process better.

Reviewer 2:

I get a very good sense of the door aesthetics from your drawing, again I think a scale figure would help.

Client 3:

This is a classic concept!

Is there a way you can get more hands/people involved?

Reviewer 4:

I like this idea.

It's elegant and simple enough to actually be carried out within this class.

A single sensor tied to the opening mechanism is good.

The hand-print door opening is very sci-fi.

I can see a col foam core model of this concept before the final device.

It is also generic enough to be used anywhere in the adventure.

Client 5:

A classic sci-fi door.

Got to have something like this in the show.

How could it be accessorized with lights/effects to be amazing?

Reviewer 1:

It would be interesting to see how the mechanism would change for each door design. Would there be a way to simplify the mechanism to make maintenance easy for 5Wits?

Reviewer 2:

This is not a technical drawing that describes accurate motion and I don't think this is something the visitor will see, so I don't see its relevance. It is the least convincing of your drawings.

Client 3:

My big concern with this design is the closing of the door.

What happens if someone's hand is in the way?

Is there anything in the system that will prevent their hand from getting crushed?

Reviewer 4:

Everyone loves gears.

Nice idea.

It would be cool to see this operate.

Anyway to simplify the design when you connect all the layers would be good.

Client 5:

I think I understand the intent of this sketch, and it's great to be exploring how these doors would actually function early in the process, this is great.

I feel like the key bits are left out in this drawing -- it's not clear to me what is driving what and how this rack & pinion relates exactly to the door you have designed.

Looking forward to seeing further exploration.

Overall concept sketch clarity and presentation

Reviewer 1:

Very simple and easy to navigate site. Text was easy to read and it was easy to know what concept was which. I was a bit confused on the team site, trying to figure out which group of concepts was for which person. I had to hover each picture before finding yours.

It might be better to have it show the persons face and then change pictures after hovering over the concepts. That would be thinking of reviewers as your main audience. Other than that great site.

Reviewer 2:

Overall great drawings. Nice marker work!

Client 3:

These drawings were very clean and easy to read!

Reviewer 4:

Drawings are neat, done well, and clear.

Maybe the only suggestion would be to put the sliding mechanism immediately after the sliding door diagram and not separate them with the hand-print door.

Overall, cool and feasible ideas.

Client 5:

Great drawings, clear intent, useful, if short, annotations.

Fine job!
