time selection device concept sketch comments

Reviewer 1:

Without a description of the device it was hard to understand what pressing the button would do. They mentioned the overall goal was to create a puzzle that would allow the user to choose a time to travel back to. But a button that flips over seems a little to easy? Maybe there could be a puzzle that is involved in opening the casing around the red button. I like the simplicity of just pressing the button. But getting to the button should be a little more difficult to make it fun and interactive. It's good to keep in mind that the time to complete the task should be consistent.

Reviewer 2:

In the description of the time selection device, it states that figuring out how to use the device is the main puzzle.

In the drawing, I don't see much of the puzzle aspect as much as a visual effect.

The uncovering of the selection button would be a very cool effect and would fit in well with the theme, but I would make sure that it occurred as a consequence of completing the puzzle.

That being said, I think the device is definitely within the range of feasibility and could add to a positive user experience.

Reviewer 3:

I'm a big fan of how big the numbers are - makes it very clear that time is an important factor of your experience here (since it's about time travel). I'm confused about what all the buttons are for and how the user actually selects the time (which buttons do they press?)

Also, nice shading on this one! I think this idea has potential!

If there is supposed to be text accompanying this image, I can't see it.

From what I can make out, this is a console that uses dice as buttons for guests to select a date in time -- a neat idea, this is very "back to the future" retro-sci-fi.

Neat.

destination display concept sketch comments

Reviewer 1:

I like the layout of Daniel's display. I think the numbers for the month should be replaced with actual month names? Some users may not be familiar with the numbers....although I may be wrong, something to think about. Again without the description of the interaction specific to Daniel's design it is hard to know how the user will input the time. The layout is futuristic and something I think user will enjoy.

Reviewer 2:

When it comes to having a cool visual display, the bigger the better.

Your display of the time destination will definitely have a big "wow" factor because of the big displays and complex control board.

It would be really cool if you could create a visually stimulating for changing the numbers on the screen.

This effect will be great for a group because of its size.

It would also be really fun if the control board gave good feedback to the users (i.e. buttons and switches controlling things on the board).

To make it fun for returning users, I would make it possible to go to different dates which may lead to different story lines.

Reviewer 3:

I'm not sure exactly what's happening in this one - a blurb would definitely help. It looks like the glass dome on the top moves to expose the red object, but I'm not sure why. Maybe add some annotations? What is the user supposed to do and feel?

Client 4:

A podium with a clear hemisphere protecting a button -- a neat gag, that could be neat.

exit door concept sketch comments

Reviewer 1:

The sketch shows a very clear image of what the purpose of the interaction is. The door being automated and moving up into the wall gives it a futuristic look. The green lights show the user the path to the next room and a re assurance that it is safe to enter. I think more details could have made this sketch more effective.

Reviewer 2:

The futuristically-opening door looks like it would be a great visual effect that would definitely support the space sci-fi theme.

The futuristic door will also be within the feasibility constraints.

I would make sure that there was something in the same room that directed the users' attention to the door when it is about to open so everyone's experience is good.

I would also stress the non-visual aspects of this door.

For example, it should make a really cool noise when it opens.

Reviewer 3:

I like the idea here of the door opening up, but I think you could take this further by making it more futuristic and elaborating on how it's actually going to work. Right now, I'm imagining how a garage door opens, and I feel like you could do something cooler/ more sci-fi than that!

A door opening upward -- could be cool.

Overall concept sketch clarity and presentation

Reviewer 1:

The website layout and color choice was excellent. But I was not able to see there full storyboard due to some page routing problems. Descriptions of the individual pictures would have given me a better sense of each sketches take away.

Reviewer 2:

The sketches were pretty straight forward, but it would have been nice if there were some captions with descriptions of the device and user experience.

The page that features all of your sketches is very plain; the only thing on the page is pictures of the three sketches.

Try to separate and order the sketches so they are easy to follow through the story.

Reviewer 3:

Adding short blurbs / annotations in the sketch would have really helped to give the sketches some context and to highlight features. Your quality of sketching itself was pretty nice, though!

Client 4:

I can see the three images only, no annotations.

It appears you team is having trouble with the website showing off you work.

A couple team members had all broken links, and nothing visible.
