klotski puzzle concept sketch comments

Reviewer 1:

I'm not really sure what a Klotski puzzle is, so a little more explanation of that would have been helpful. What I've gotten is that it's a little like the traffic jam game. How much are you planning on helping people through the hints? Would it be able to change and give more hints if people are struggling? That would be good. I like the resetting method though.

Reviewer 2:

The drawing looks great. The puzzle is also very clever, however, the direction they are supposed to move the door is not very clear. My suggestion would be to add an arrow, but that might ruin the aesthetic you are going for. So you will have to come up with a clever way to make the puzzle clear, but still make the door look "futuristic"

Client 3:

Great idea.

Keep in mind that games are best if they can modify their difficulty in the middle of game play.

If the show can give hints or make the puzzle harder mid-game, that would be best.

Reviewer 4:

I have to be honest here that I did not quite understand how to solve the puzzle. So it may be hard for the visitors to solve the puzzle too. More instruction maybe needed. The layout looks good tho, and I really like your drawings.

Reviewer 5:

I love this idea. It seems it could be challenging and definitely unique! How large is the door? I suppose you would have to make it large enough so perhaps many people could interact with it simultaneously. I am not sure I understand how the puzzle resets. Wouldnt the group that passed through need to reverse-solve it to reset it? What if you did a digital representation such that the puzzle could be unique each time?

Client 6:

Very cool idea -- this could be super cool.

I have a lot of concerns about the mechanical complexity of this system -- lots of moving parts, that we are asking guests to physically manipulate, and all mounted on a door which itself moves.

This would be a challenging build and the maintenance could be frightening.

But I love the concept!

Reviewer 1:

This would look really cool between rooms! Very much fitting with the sci-fi team. I can't really tell how the mechanism works from your drawing. Perhaps movement arrows would help. My only concern with the concept would be wheelchair accessibility.

Reviewer 2:

Love it, so cool, sooooooo cool. Please make this. I think this just looks flat out amazing and I hope you can build it.

Critiques? I think not, I couldn't possibly give you any negative feedback on this amazing door.

Client 3:

As cool as this door looks, it may be difficult to build in a robust manor.

The door also involves diving into the floor which means the room would most likely to be elevated.

Very tricky stuff!

Reviewer 4:

This door is very cool, and it creates a unique experience for the visitors. How does the mechanism work? So the eight pieces of doors will be moving/rotating when the door opens? You have to ensure that there are enough space i.e. the door needs to be big enough for hiding the doors.

Reviewer 5:

Seems reasonable and very sci-fi. Not much more to say. Cool!

Client 6:

Awesome depiction of a classic effect - an iris door.

I'd love to figure out how to do this well for the adventure.

One challenge: doors need to accommodate wheelchair users, which means they should probably open down to the floor, at a width as required by the ADA.

If you can figure out how to do this iris effect with the door sitting on the floor (no step-over), this would be a "must do" effect for 5 Wits.

solid curtain concept sketch comments

Reviewer 1:

I don't really see this fitting with the theme as well as the other two, but I think it looks really cool. Maybe if there were more sci-fi details, like lights or bolts or something. I would also worry about pinch points and that kind of thing with this many moving parts.

Reviewer 2:

This door is clearly done. Its obvious how it will work. However, I don't think it quite creates the aesthetic you are going for like the iris does. It looks more like a door from an Escher drawing than from the future.

I don't necessarily think there is anything wrong with the door, but I do think the iris is better.

Client 3:

Also a cool looking door.

I would try to design this door with a special eye for safety.

There are many pinch points!

Reviewer 4:

The structural design may be tricky tho, you have to make sure that rectangular pieces can hold themselves when they rotate and stop. Also visual effects such as using LED lights to install on the door to make it more shiny :)

Reviewer 5:

Another awesome and unique idea! I imagine you could articulate

everything using one motor for each side and use pins to transfer mechanical torque at varying stages of theta. (did this even make sense? lol). Cool!

Client 6:

This is new -- I have never seen a door quite like this, either in physical life or on screen.

I think this could be very cool, and relatively simple to actuate if it is designed well.

Neat.

Overall concept sketch clarity and presentation

Reviewer 1:

I like the main page with the storyboard and concepts below. It was kind of awkward starting with the popup page, but I think that's just how the reviewing links work. I like the use of color in your drawings, and the different views you show of each door.

The website is very organized and the concepts are very concise and creative! I like how you guys use the color scheme of white and black and also put up team members' photo!

Reviewer 5:

Each page explained the purpose of the sketches very well. The sketches were well drawn and shaded appropriately to show depth. I particularly liked the cut-away sketch for the Octagon-Iris.
