Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

The analysis is detailed and considerate. The writer considered comprenhensively about the user experience, from waiting for the elevator to exiting the elevator, from the exterior to the interior, and cover both types of passenger elevators in the Media Lab. However, some parts are not perfect:

1) The call buttons for the E15 passenger elevators: the writer mentioned young people might get confused with call button and instructions of the meanings of the buttons should be put on the panel. I feel like this is a over-design since the meaning of call buttons are basic general worldwide. Young people should get to learn the meanings of the call buttons. In the worst case, their accompanied parents could help them call the elevator.

2) Over-design also exists in the part of making people know which elevator to come first. Multiple factors could influence the arrival of elevator like the how fast people enter and exit the elevator and at which floor people call the elevator. In this the first elevator to come changes frequently. The signal of which elevator to come first does not improve the arrival speed. However, the frequent change of signal which one to come first would turn annoying.

3)Much idea is listed on the page and some are even put in the additional part on the bottom. I see some suggestions are overlapping like level indicator works for both the exterior, the call button and the elevator arrival. It could be great the writer simplify some idea and make a summary at the end of page showing which suggestion work for which scenarios.

4) I would appreciate a general summary of user experience and suggestions comprehensively

Reviewer 2:

Ali's analysis was detailed and thorough. Clearly, a lot of thought went into understanding the current user experience and the many opportunities for improvement. In addition, the consideration of user emotions during the elevator ride was a nice detail.

The analysis could be improved by expanding on the suggested improvements. Instead of just calling out what could be added to the experience, the suggestions would be even stronger with images or diagrams as well as specificity.

Reviewer 3:

I'm impressed by this detailed use experience analysis of elevators used in building E14 and E15. Ali gives a very broad and deep insight of the design of the elevators as well as pretty reasonable solutions to shortcomings he found. When I went through the whole report, I was thinking I never thought of this aspect regarding the user experience of elevators before! The only two suggestions that I may have are that:

1. I think the author sometimes overthought the shortcomings. His judges on some design features are based on personal aesthetics. For example, he viewed the exterior color of the E15 elevators is not appealing, but I consider this color as a perfect match with the interior design of the whole E15 building. We shouldn't isolate any component in a huge and complex system.

2. I am just curious why you create a separate section where he proposals additional observations and recommendations. In order to maintain consistency, he could break them into several parts that being allocated in "shortcoming" and "improvements" sections.

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

It is a concise and easy-to-read website. Consider the huge amount of information and sub-contents in each sub-page. Hyperlinks should be put in each sub-page for faster viewing and searching. The text is too uniform and key points should be highlighted among these texts, especially for 'shortcomings' and 'improvements'.

Reviewer 2:

Ali's website was thoughtfully laid out and clear. The images showed both the setting of the elevators and the details being critiqued. I also found that the "shortcomings" and improvements" at the bottom of each section added to the overall clarity of the analysis.

Reviewer 3:

I think Ali did an awesome job presenting his thoughts in a very clear manner which make it easy for me to follow. I can quickly understand what he is trying to demonstrate as I was taking the trip with him together!
