Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

The analysis is well written and concise with the assignment proposal. Although clarity and objectiveness are not a problem here, I wish that the overall content had more details. As an example of improvement, let's take the introduction section for instance. The allocation of the content in the subsections "Who uses it?", "What do they use it for?" and "Why buy Mr. Coffee?" is indeed a very good approach, but when it comes to the actual content of each subsection, the reader is left with the desire to know "what else does it do than simply brewing coffee?", "what other ways are there of brewing coffee, and why this is or is not the best?", "is this a new or old technology?", among other general curiosities over coffee brewing process and machines.

As my second suggestion, try to give user testimonies in order to support your conclusions of the general benefits and problems felt by Mr. Coffee's users. This will give more credibility to any statement or conclusion you might have from there on.

Reviewer 2:

You have identified some critical and simple issues with the Mr. Coffee. Your three recommendations are all evidence- and experience-based which makes for some very logical recommendations! It might be nice to dive a bit deeper into your solutions, talking a bit more about the image examples you use and more specifically how the user interacts with the tweaks you suggest. Are there any other options not explored by other brands? I really like the images of you using your machine, these add very clear context to each of the problems you described! Including more nuances to the visual steps you provide might also enhance the analysis and reveal more issues. How exactly do you pour in coffee grounds? Do other people scoop them in?

Reviewer 3:

The analysis of a coffee machine that is instrumental to the morning routine of many people is a good and useful topic. The experience is well documented, helping the users understand the frustration of the coffee machine.

Things to consider is whether the improvements added to machine would significantly increase the cost. There are other coffee machines that already have the suggestions they propose. You could check if they are significantly more expensive. Users might be willing to put up with the inconvenience for the price difference the improvements that might incur.

Reviewer 4:

I was able to understand the problem, experience, and possible improvements put forward. I especially liked that each topic was explicitly laid out on the left hand side of the website to make it easy to navigate between pages. I like the improved suggestions you noted, but I would have liked it more if the suggestions followed the 3 problem areas noted on the "Problems" page -- it would have made it easier to understand what the improvement was fixing. I also think that you could have used images better -- you had pictures, but they were not big enough to see what was going on. I know what using a Mr. Coffee pot is like so it's easy to understand, but this would not be the case with everybody.

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

The overall design presentation and navigation experience are really good. Good font sizes, most of the presented content is supported by an illustrating image - which is always very welcome -, the "reading flow" - what mean is, the sequence in which the content is presented and how it is presented - is very clear and well organizes. If I had to complain about anything it would be one small detail: the Home tab. I didn't quite understand why it was there... It looks like that it is a piece of content that should be in the introduction, but for some reason it was allocated in a separated tab - not sure why. Anyway, even if this separation has a good explanation, it is definitely an introductory content, judging by the "Let's see!" at the end of the page. So, if this is an introductory tab, definitely try to move it to the top of the side navigation bar, so that it looks like an introductory tab.

Reviewer 2:

Your site is very clear and straightforward! It might be nice to indicate that the links on the side are navigation links with button outlines or something of the like. The brown (coffee-like) background makes for a nice aura, but it does make the black text not pop-out as well when it is near the dark borders. You may also want to experiment with a sans-serif font for the site, it usually reads easier online! In terms of logical flow, your site does very well. You can go straight through the links and the content box size does not change significantly. For some images, having a caption may be helpful (like the improvement images)! Great job.

Reviewer 4:

I enjoyed reading your report about Mr. Coffee coffee makers. The flow of each section worked well. I like that you used headings and a small amount of text so it was easy to follow and read. I also like that images paired with each of your descriptions. Overall everything was laid out well and made the report easy to read and understand.
