Quality and thoroughness of human-use analysis and improvement suggestions

Reviewer 1:

The entire text of the site was less than 500 words, which is quite limited given the scope of this assignment. You made a lot of great observations, but it would have been nice to go more in depth for the analysis. Talking to other users and determining what similar struggles are across the board would have been extremely useful. Your observation about the lack of wipes was confusing to me as a reader. You say "Although hand soap is provided, cleaning materials like wipes are not provided so that people cannot clean the device in time." It is unclear which device you are talking about- what needs to be wiped in an Athena cluster? Going more in depth will help explain your experience to those who have not had experience with this particular Athena cluster.

You analyze a lot of different features of the computing room, which makes sense if you are looking at redesigning the whole room. However, I do not think you gave enough detail about the user experience of each device. For example, you make a great point that the types of computers offered is not sufficient and there should be more MAC computers. However, is there a specific way to redesign the room that would accommodate another computer? Would you replace a Windows computer with a MAC or add a 7th computer? What about the organization of the computer towers, mice, and many cables and cords, do they hinder or help a positive user experience? I also would have liked to have seen some analysis on your audience; who uses the room? For what specific purposes? Would the experience change based on those answers?

I think giving the reader a bit more research and background about general computer rooms at dorms or universities would have given a little more context and understanding to the problems of Sidney Pacific. Some data maybe about the amount of people that use the computing room and for what specific needs would have also helped understand the user experience and thus develop more narrowed suggestions for improving the room.

Reviewer 4:

Framing some aspects, like staple access, which otherwise takes up management time is a good idea to streamline efficiency.

Are there potential cost concerns/constraints to color printing or setting up an additional mac?

Clarity and presentation of human-use experience analysis

Reviewer 1:

I found the website to be fairly limited and confusing. I did not understand several of the icons at the top of the page- there is one of a person going up stairs but there is no mention of stairs anywhere in the text. Additionally, not all the symbols are the same size, which is confusing for readers because it indicates a difference in function. I think these symbols would have been more effective as text that linked to the descriptions below. The site was simply black and white and there was no padding around the text, which made it look unprofessional. There were two separate sections at different parts in the description titled User Experience, which was confusing as well. It would have been really great to have the site as multiple separate pages with a selection bar that listed all the sections of the analysis- this would have helped signpost and structure the assignment.

Reviewer 2:

Your photos accurately capture the devices in the room and all the photos are referenced in your text. I also like the idea of separating your sections with icons, but the actual icons do not seen to make much sense to me. Why is there an icon of a person climbing stairs on your suggestions section? I would also encourage you to be more creative with the web design such as adding color, hover icons, or different types of layouts for your sections. Also pay attention to your margins when you are adding text (the text is too close to the edge of the webpage and does not flow with the page).

Reviewer 3:

Your website was simple and easy to follow along. I like the icons on the top that led me to the different sections.

Perhaps narrowing the text width might make it easier to read (I'm reading on a screen which is pretty wide and experience some of the same challenges which Landon mentioned in class.
