Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

I like the concept. I'm worried about a pinching hazard with the discs coming out so far and then needing to be pushed back. Also maybe that could be automated with an air cylinder?

As we mentioned during the presentations, having a way for making the Chladni plate more interactive rather than passive observation would be a lot more fun. For instance, I have seen Chladni plates activated through using a violin bow. Perhaps you have have multiple bows, and the guests come in and rub that along the plate until the shape forms (I have tried to do this before, using the violin bow is not an easy task). You can place the plate above a sand pit, so all that sand that falls off of the plate goes into the bow. When guests enter the room they can take a bucket and pour the sand that they need on to the plate.

As stated above, it's a compelling puzzle game. While deciphering hieroglyphics may be a bit cliche, this is a good spin on the puzzle.

1. The sand shaker can be placed in the center of the room and the letters can be placed on one wall and the medallions on another wall. this way, the players need to walk/run between walls to do the tasks.

2. However, the above idea might not be enough as you may get one person standing by each wall and players communicating by talking to each other.

I think that the sketch model is successful in answering some really important questions about your game! I like how you thought about what the mechanism would be for the medallions, and how some people might take away the medallions if they were removable (and how you then decided that for future iterations that they should be permanently attached). Also, it's super impressive that you were able to make both a looks-like and a works like (along with 2 other works-like and looks-like gags, from what it looks like on your website)! Again, as I said before, something to consider is how to make sure that the medallions will be pressed in for the next group.

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

You were able to build a model that works and can show the concept. Could the lights be behind the photos instead of around?

Reviewer 2:

Based off of the current idea, the sketch model is well executed. It is clear from the design of the wall how users will interact with it, spinning the medallion and interpreting the hieroglyphs.

Reviewer 3:

Very well done using both mechanical and electrical components, and effectively combining looks-like and works like.

1. I think the method that sand shaker shows a new pattern each time is complicated and make the game long. I would suggest the sand shaker showing a new pattern automatically each time a medallion is completed. The more complicated version can be done in more advanced versions of the game.

2. The drawings on the medallions can be improve to attract the players. For example the pictures of ancient Egypt gods can be used n each medallion.

Like I said above, it's super impressive that you were able to make a works-like and a looks-like (in one) as well as the two other gags that go along with this game/storyboard. It seems like the works-like is working pretty well, but I think the looks-like could have been slightly more realistic -- maybe you could have painted over the pink foam on the insides (but then again, it is understandable that it doesn't completely look like what it will look like as this is a hybrid looks-like and works-like). Also, I think for the looks-like it would be nice if the LEDs were a bit more diffused and not so distinct, but that might just be personal preference.
