Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

The concept model looks really great and I think that you did a really nice job of making a 'plays-like' model. It sounds like you're definitely on the right track.

Client 2:

Rusty cranks. Can't go wrong.

One suggestion is to think about the handle you have. If this wheel is not slowed down in any fashion (to keep it from 'free spinning') - that handle becomes a giant spinning bludgeon on which guests could knock themselves silly. (Even without a handle, if someone stuck their arm in it while it was going... ow.)

Is it a ratcheting wheel, maybe? A breaking system that keeps it from gaining too much momentum?

Reviewer 3:

I think that for these sketch models, it would have been more useful to look closely into how the display should look. I think the form factor of the crank was important to explore, but the display is something that has a lot more variability and can really make or break the room. Possibly just mocking up some potential displays in Illustrator would be helpful in clarifying how all of the elements of the room tie together. That's not to say that the crank was unnecessary, as I think it is important for testing interaction and size, but I would have loved to see it in conjunction with the dispay.

Reviewer 4:

It definitely makes sense that you guys would choose to model the crank, since that's the standout piece to the game. Maybe modeling different levels of crank-difficulty or noises or something would've been a great addition to the model.

Reviewer 5:

Again, I really like the idea but I'm wondering if there is another way that you could think about using the crank that would be more consistent in a post- apocalyptic world. Like does the crank move something and reveal where the power generator is? It makes more sense that a crank would like open a wall or a window on a door than turn on a display when there isn't power. But this model was really well done!

Reviewer 6:

I like how you used the sketch model to understand scale and form factor. It's great that you also tested the interaction with people: does it make sense? does it hold up to what you want people to understand when playing?

This was well executed.

Client 2:

Nice little foam model, very good example of what it could look like.

Reviewer 3:

The sketch model was really clean and well-done. The finishing made it look incredibly realistic, and it fits the theme well. I also think you picked a good scale to make it at, and it seems like it provided a lot of good information.

It looked great! Job well done.

Reviewer 5:

Really nice! I like that it was intentionally made to look rusty and the testing of the print out for the display. I also love that you tested on actually people- that's awesome how much you found out about the scale and if people intuitively understood what the model was doing.

Reviewer 6:

I think the crank generator sketch model is very well executed. The paint and shaping looks fantastic and very on-theme. It would be great to see more pictures of the display screen interaction and further testing, as you indicated, of the message display.
