Feedback on the concept explored by the sketch model

Client 1:

Defining the look of the core is an important step in developing this experience.

Since you guys are moving forward with your one concept, I'm going to give you the feedback all in one go, as I find a lot of it relates to each other:

- I think operating it from 4 sides of a cube could be more fun (and a better use of space, maybe?) than operating it from one side of a wall.

- In my head, I could see this being done with a rack & pinion setup, and a wheel on either side that could control the X/Y, and then a crank (or just a pulley) for the cable & hook height. Just a spitball idea - I think there are dozens of ways to do this robustly.

- I would flood that sucker with black light and use UV paint for the rods and the center ball. I think you'll get a more impressive look than glow in the dark.

I liked how you used an actual picture of nuclear waste to inform what a nuclear core looks like. I think most people would have no idea what a nuclear core looks like! It would be even more effective as a looks-like sketch model if you had tested the scale and the nuclear rods as well.

The core is certainly important, though i feel as if it could be larger, to really give players a sense of scale and the power behind the nuclear plant.

Feedback on the execution of the sketch model

Client 1:

This is a great looking model! New fabrication techinques and materials may be needed to scale this up to playable size, but the look created here works perfectly.

I love how much testing you did with the different methods of picking up the rods, the size of the rods, the center console - you all put a lot of thought into it, and I can't wait to see the next step!

Reviewer 3:

Great job on carving the foam and painting it to look like a nuclear core. It looks convincingly like concrete!

Reviewer 4:

fantastic sketch model, I really like the idea of using paint to eat away at the outside layer of foam. It looks really realistic and tactile.
