A few questions:

* You have people looking closely to determine different species of sea creatures ... How do you think that younger audiences would do with this?

* Good thought put into the means for only one specimen to be removed at once. Would this facilitate one power-adventurer from doing everything, since only one thing can really be moving at once? How can you get everyone moving at once?

* Regarding resetting, I would consider just leave the final specimen in the scanning chamber as an example when the next group comes in.

* Making an actual full-size model of this could be very difficult. Good luck!

Your model does a good job depicting what it may look like. I like the large sculpture on top of the bookshelf. I think it is going to be a big challenge to figure out a way of preventing the action from progressing without all of the specimen jars in the right place. Can you think of a way of making the gag self-resetting without requiring the players to do it themselves? If you're going to have the users do it, I think you need a very compelling reason for them to want to put the specimen jars back.

Because your model was kind of small, I had hard time to see the details of your model in the class. However your website provides several detailed pictures and allows me to observe the details of your model. I like the color tone of the model. Brown and black tone makes the bookshelf look old. I feel like it contains something mysterious. In addition, metal-feeling surface gives some sense of submarine inside. Since your model is not full scale but this book shelf should interact with the participants, it would be good to make simple version of the model where you can change jars position easily and test how participants feel depending on the location and of the jars before building the final product.
