Solar Powered Lamp: "Looks-Like" Model

This section shows a looks-like model of the solar powered lamp. The purpose of this model is to show what the solar powered lamp would look like and explain the basic functionality of the device.

The front/side views show three main elements:

  1. The solar panels double as the lamp shade.
  2. There is no switch or cord. This lamp is activated by electrostatic forces when touched by the user. The user can light the LED bulbs housed under the shade by touching the base or the top of the lamp. A second and third touch will increase the intensity of the light. A fourth touch turns the lamp off completely.
  3. The lamp has a metallic brass finish for aesthetics. I feel this feature allows the lamp to be placed in business offices. Future models may include different color finishes and different colors of solar panels to make the lamp look more elegant or homey, depending on customer requirements.

The top view of the lamp shows the top surface on which the LED lights will be mounted. LED lights will be mounted on the underside of the surface. Future lamps will have the same silver finish on the solar panels.
