The Community Service Committee of the Class of 2001, better known as the Comm Comm, is the first community service committee ever to be created by a MIT class council. It exists to provide class members with the opportunity to serve the community of Cambridge and Boston in many traditional as well as innovative ways. Created in November of last year, the committee already has an outstanding record of service. Its first activity, the Thanksgiving Food Drive, collected thirteen hundred dollars worth of canned foods. These were donated to the CASPAR Emergency Service Center (a nearby homeless shelter). Currently, Comm Comm maintains the largest membership of all Freshman Council Committees, with over twenty committed members working in the creation of ambitious service programs. The committee aspires to involve as many members of the Class of 2001 in a community service experience as possible.
Any member of the class is invited to join.
