The Tale of Ann the Squirrel

One day in the early Spring time, Ann went to one of her storage places to get some food for dinner. When she got there, she was surprised to find that there was no nuts there. "That is strange," Ann thought. "I know there was not much food here but I didn't think I finished it."

Ann searched around and found a note. It read:

We are sorry.
We took your food.
We are very hungry and
we couldn't find any.

-the other squirrels

"That was very nice of them," thought Ann. "They could have ask me. I would have been happy to let them borrow some food. I am sure this wasn't enough food for them anyway. Still I must find food for myself."
