Trading Cards
To get a sense of just how popular trading cards are in Japan, here is a quote from one of the websites selling a new type of cards, Yu-Gi-Oh!: "The latest rage in Japan is Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. The demand for Yu-Gi-Oh! is so high in Japan that Konami had to call riot police because hysterical fans got out of control." Yu-Gi-Oh! plays similar to the well-known Pokemon trading card game, still popular in both Japan and the United States. Pictured above is another trading card series currently popular in Japan called Tenchi-muyo.
. Another interesting new series of cards collected and traded by Japanese girls is Boy Crazy, which feature pictures of similarly aged boys and information about them.
Sailor Moon
Like Hello-Kitty merchandising, anime series like Sailor Moon spawn a huge array of related products. Although action figures seem to be the most popular anime tie-in products, all sorts of other toy are also sold. Above are pictured Sailor Moon plush toys.
