I．Vte＋しまう(しまいます)

  1. finish V-ing completely
  2. V to one's regret; V, which should have been done
 
  Contracted forms:  
      食べてしまう→食べちゃう(-tyau)
      行ってしまう→行っちゃう
      飲んでしまう→飲んじゃう(-jau)
      読んでしまう→読んじゃう

 1.古い本は、全部しまってしまいました。 
   I've put away all the old books.
 2.だれがぼくのビール、飲んじゃったの。 
   Who drank up my beer?
 3.かぎ、どこにもないよ。困っちゃったなあ。
   I can't find the key anywhere.  What a trouble.
 4.このたてもののまどは全部しめちゃったと思ったけど…
   I thought I closed all the windows of this building, but...

れんしゅう--Express the following using Vte+しまう.

1. おなかがすきました。
2. もうしゅくだいをやりましたか。
3. 16かのかんじ、みんなおぼえたよ。
4. 食べすぎたねえ。
5. やくそくをわすれました。
6. 林くんが、ぼくのを飲んだんだ。
7. このレポートを明日までに書きたいです。

II．V1teから、V2 "after V1, V2"

 Compare:       
   a.びょう気になって、仕事をやめました。
     Becoming ill, I quit the job.
   b.びょう気になってから、仕事をやめました。
     After I became ill, I quit the job.
   c.びょう気になったから、仕事をやめました。
     Because I became ill, I quit the job.

 1.林さんが使ってから、私にも貸してください。 
   After you use it, Mr. Hayashi,  please lend it to me, too.
 2.A: いついらっしゃいますか。          
     When are you coming?
   B: 一度うちに帰ってから、まいります。
     I'm coming after going home first.
 3.この仕事をしてしまってから、休みましょう。
   Let's rest after finishing this work.
 4.まどのかぎをかけて、コンピューターをけしてから帰ってください。
   Please go home after you lock the window(s) and turn off the computer.

れんしゅう--Fill in the blanks with Vteから expressions.

1. (駅につく)____________、お電話下さい。
2. (かぎをかける)____________、うちを出ました。
3. (会社にもどる)____________、部長とそうだんします。
4. (この車を買う)____________、もう六年になります。

III．(〜へ) V-stem ＋に {行く/来る/かえる,etc.}
Ｎ(activity)(し) ＋に {行く/来る/かえる,etc.}

 1.駅までおむかえにまいります。     
   I'll come to the station to meet you.
 2.そぼのぐあいがよくないので、うちへ会いにかえりました。
   Since my grandmother does not feel good, I went home to see her.
 3.日本へ日本語を勉強しに行くつもりです。
   I plan to go to Japan to study Japanese.
   cf. 日本へ日本語の勉強に行くつもりです。
 4.あたたかいうちに京都へおてらのしゃしんをとりに行きたいと
   思っているけど、忙しいのでなかなか行けない。
  I think I'd like to go to Kyoto to take pictures of temples
  while it's warm, but since I'm busy I can't go.

れんしゅう--Express the purposes to go to the following places.

1. 来月バーモント(スキーをする)行きたいと思っている。
2. 後でオフィス(そうだんする)来て下さい。
3. 今日はどこ(昼を食べる)行きましょうか。
4. ニューヨーク(何をする)行きましたか。
5. 会社(大切な手紙をとる)もどりました。

1.するvs.やる： 
     やる is a casual version of する.
     やる cannot be used in Nominal+する compounds.

 れい     

   1.もうおそいから、明日やりましょう。 
     It's already late, so let's do it tomorrow.
   2.これ、だれがやったの？            
     Who did this?     

2.Place+による     "stop in at a place (or someone's place)"

 れい     

 1.店によってから、かえります。     
   After dropping in at the store, I'll go home.
 2.医者の所によるつもりです。   
   I'm planning to stop in at the doctor's office.
 3.内田[uchida]さんの家によりました。 
   I stopped at Mr. Uchida's house.
   cf. 内田さんの家にうかがいました。 
   I visited Mr. Uchida at his home.↓
