Wicked good
Wickedness is tempting, hence Satan gets people to do many bad
things. The word wicked does not merely imply bad; rather, it
implies naugthy. According to
Webster, one of the definitions of
naughty is guilty of disobedience or misbehavior. The rebel side of
each person wants to be wicked. Therefore, if something is in essence
good, while still managing to have the wicked appeal, it is
really good. For example, professor
Ravel is a wicked good
professor. Another variation of this adage appears in the form of
"wicked cool." "Wicked cool" is an adage that is particularly common
in Boston and Canada. Just the other day, at 3am, as I slaved away in
studio, I heard a radio commercial (aired over a Boston radio station) for
Newbury Comics use
the adages "wicked good" and "wicked cool." I again
came across "wicked cool" on a sign at Pearl, an arts and crafts
store that has sucked
away hundreds of dollars from me this semester, thanks to my studio
class at MIT. One would expect that a university as expensive as MIT,
costing over $20,000 per year in tuition alone, would provide its
students with some class materials. So much for what one expects.
