Bray's do-it-yourself home repair business boomed half a decade ago when the economy was high and "Dell-ionaires" were buying homes in the country. For the last year, however, business has declined even as Georgetown continued to grow.

People seem less likely to take on building projects in the new economy, speculated the attendant, and the new residents tend to be full-time workers out of Austin or retired people from big cities, neither of whom seem inclined to do their own home repair and renovation work. The result is hard times for a business that was one of the town's first westward expansions down now-bustling Williams Drive.
