Natural Wonders
So Happy Together
|
When the Natural Wonders broke up in 2005, each of the members went their own way. Dave "The Head" Metropolis continued to play bass for several other bands, including Slapping Wrists and Stomach Monkeys. Amber Lane and Nick Adams each pursued solo careers, releasing several promising albums. Lane later teamed up with Metropolis to form an eclectic duo called MetroLane, with one album to date. And Eddie Volvo gave up the rock-and-roll lifestyle to settle down and raise a family. In 2007, Renewal Records executive Justin Phrame decided that the Natural Wonders needed a reunion and so set his mind to getting the band back together. Phrame first approached Lane who was tiring of a solo career and was very much excited about reuniting the band. She convinced Metropolis to join her and they were halfway to a reunion. Eddie Volvo, now happily married with two kids, didn't want to leave his family to play in a rock band. He wouldn't budge. Then Nick Adams was found shot in his apartment. He was apparently shot by a robber, but the police investigation was not conclusive. With Adams dead, the hope for reunion seemed impossible. But suddenly Volvo was agreeing to play, as a tribute in honor of Nick Adams. And Eric Cappman, the guitarist who replaced Shane Singleton in 2000 and who mysteriously disappeared when the Natural Wonders disbanded, turned up at Adams' funeral. Phrame told him about the reunion/tribute, and the fourth Wonder was signed. As if that wasn't enough, Shane Singleton got word of the reunion efforts and decided he couldn't be left out. Offering to play lead guitar in place of Adams, he was eventually accepted back into the group without much hard feelings. That's not to say that everything went smoothly. On the contrary, the Natural Wonders are the biggest prima donnas in the business, and they all wanted to honor Adams in their own ways--almost to the extent of refusing to work with the other band members. Phrame had his hands full. And on top of everything, Oedipus records refused to license the early songs which they still held rights to--replaying the battle of 2002 over Alive And Kicking. But despite it all, in 2010, three years after Phrame started his quest, the Natural Wonders reunited to tour once more playing their greatest hits and one new song in memory of Nick Adams. This CD contains live recordings from that tour and some studio rerecordings by the reunited Natural Wonders. This album is dedicated to Nick Adams--musical genius, rebellious youth, best friend, and lover. |
