Car One, 2:00The car is almost empty. The Lamberts have left to take the PATH, and Thurston and the fraternity men are in the cafe car. No one is awake as the train starts, and begins to cross the bridge. The horrible noise of the bridge giving way is the sound that wakes them, and the last sound in their ears.
