Athens, Greece
The Acropolis

I feel almost ancient standing here on the Acropolis.  Millions have stood before me here, looking out over Athens.  It's unbelievable how the city stretches as far as I can see, right to the Aegean.

Never thought Erik and I would make it.  Bus driver ripped us off, we walked around in the sweltering heat in the bad part of town to find the youth hostel.  At least it seems like a nice enough place.  Nice Australian guy running it.  Bathroom is a little sketchy though.

It's even kind of pleasant here on this old hill, now that the sun is setting.  Finally a breeze!  It really is poetic.  Too bad this place is infested with tourists... there's a ton of couples sitting together in the sunset here...  I can't help but think of Leigh.  She hasn't even left Geneva yet, but tomorrow she heads out with Sabrina to do their 'girls' trip into Italy.  I won't be able to contact her at all until we meet up in Rome.

Well, it seems Erik has had just about enough of the acropolis.  I'm certainly looking forward to experiencing Athens at night.  Huge city, plenty to do.  It's actually going to be great to be doing just the 'guy' thing for a while.  Maybe tip back a glass or five tonight, partaking of some Greek revelry.

Let's get going.
