Sally turned around quickly as Ted came into the kitchen. She was swilling from a glass of water, which he thought was probably a good idea considering the shape she must be in.
"So what did you do last night?" He asked.
Preoccupied with her own affairs, Sally didn't notice the bitterness in his voice.
"Oh, I went out with some people from work," she said. "We went to this great bar downtown -- actually, we went to a couple of great bars."
Ted had chosen his subject well. Sally was ready to jabber for a while.
