3.22 Mechanical Properties of Materials

This subject gives an overview of the mechanical behavior of materials, including elasticity, viscoelasticity, plasticity, creep, fracture and fatigue. Both the macroscopic, continuum behavior, as well as the physical mechanisms controlling the behavior are described. Material design for improved mechanical behavior is discussed.
