For this Wednesday, the 5th of October, building on your discussions
in class, we'd like you to sketch one or more of the art works that
are associated with the Media Lab building. These are the bench on
the lower level and the bench and railing at the plaza level both by
Scott Burton, sculptor; the painted stripes in the panels of the
walls, both on the exterior of the building and inside on the walls of
the main lobby, by Ken Nolan; and the exterior plaza paving, stones,
and benches by Richard Fleishner. What is special about the object(s)
you have chosen? Do they differ from conventional objects of their
type? Can you see and can you illustrate, either in drawing or words,
their relationship to the Media Lab building?
