5.33 students (group A, from left) Amy Tyszkiewicz, Susan Yuditskasia, John Paul Shen, Ryan Zeidan and Amy K and the experiment TA (third from left) Manke David are working on the Nitrogen Scission experiment.  Here, they will synthesize the lithium xylidene (made from n-BuLi and N-t-butyl-m-xylidene in the cold well, see also picture 2).  The lithium compound then will be reacted with Mo(THF)₃Cl₃ to yield the actual Molybdenum compound that breaks the nitrogen molecule(see the experiment).
