6.170 Tiger Database Files
--------------------------

A complete set of Tiger database files is in /mit/6.170/tigerdb/database.
Other directories contain symbolic links to this directory to select
a subset of the complete files, along with some supporting text files.
Each database file contains information for one county.  Boston is
in Suffolk County, Cambridge and Somerville are in Middlesex
County, and Brookline is in Norfolk County.

The following database sets are available:

arealocal: Middlesex, Norfolk, and Suffolk Counties

cambridge: Middlesex County

database: All of Massachusetts

large: Barnstable, Berkshire, Bristol, Dukes, Essex, Franklin,
       Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, Nantucket, Norfolk, and Suffolk
       Counties

medium: Middlesex and Suffolk Counties

mit: Middlesex County

small: Bristol and Suffolk Counties, including Boston, Chelsea,
       Revere, Winthrop, and Quincy

smaller: Essex County

tiny: Nantucket County

Of note, small and large are disjoint, and their union is the entire
database.  medium is the smallest database set that contains both
Boston and Cambridge.  arealocal is the smallest database set that
contains Boston, Cambridge, and Brookline (and therefore every MIT
living group).
