What is Robocraft all about?

The MIT Robocraft Competition (also called 6.370) revolves around the premise that MIT students are creative and enjoy building things. Inspired by a history of robot-building contests at MIT, the Robocraft competition pits autonomous robots against each other head-to-head in a tournament. What makes Robocraft unique is that it is purely a software competition; the robots are completely virtual and interact in a video game-style simulation. The challenge is to write the software that controls them, guiding their every move during a match. Unconstrained by real-world physics, Robocraft matches are futuristic battles between teams of robots.

Why sponsor Robocraft?

Exposure: Robocraft is a prestigious competition that is well-known throughout the entire MIT community. Select sponsors will have their logo displayed on our high-traffic web site and wherever Robocraft is advertised. Sponsors will also help award prizes and address the crowd at the final tournament.

Recruiting: Robocraft contestants represent the cream of the crop of MIT programmers, both graduate and undergraduate. The resumes of the members of the winning teams will be published in a collection that will be made available to sponsors. In addition, representatives from sponsor companies will be invited to the Finalists Celebration, where they will get to meet the top contestants personally.

Involvement: Sponsors will get to help make Robocraft a fun and rewarding experience. They will have access to the source code of all entries and be involved in the judging and awarding of academic prizes.
