Course Description

An introductory subject on electromagnetic waves. Topics: polarization, Stokes parameters, Poincare sphere, gyrotropic media, uniaxial media, phase matching, layered media, dielectric waveguides, metallic waveguides and resonators, Cerenkov radiation, Hertzian dipole, equivalence principle, and reciprocity. Examples deal with propagation, guidance, and radiation of electromagnetic waves.
