6.730 Physics for Solid-State Applications
Spring 01
Simulations
- The programs in Simulations for
Solid State Physics (SSS) can be accessed on
athena by using the command add 6.730. Then the name
of the program, for example bravais, for the
program on bravais lattices. The names of the programs are listed below.
-
One way to get a copy of the figures is
to do a screen dump with xdpr.
Another way to grab images is to use xv. First start up the
program by typing xv & at the Athena prompt.
xv stands for X viewer, and
is used to view, modify, and reformat graphical images. One of the options
on the Control panel is grab--this lets you get images currently showing
on the screen. Use xv to get them, and then save them in the appropriate
format.
-
MATLAB programs as filename.m files
will also be used in the class.
